Why Marine Insurance Matters

Careful packing. Professional handling. Insurance is there for the unexpected.

Our crews use proven packing methods and take great care when preparing, loading and handling your shipment. Every shipment is treated with care from the first carton through final delivery.

Even with careful packing and professional handling, an international shipment passes through many stages. Household goods may travel by truck, move through warehouses and ports, be handled by forklifts and cranes, cross the ocean in a container, pass through customs and then be delivered to your home in Israel.

Marine insurance is available because unexpected events can occur during that journey. It provides financial protection for covered loss or damage, subject to the coverage selected and the terms of the insurance policy.

Some belongings are naturally more vulnerable than others. Glass, artwork, furniture with delicate finishes and certain electronics can require additional care, even when professionally packed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common insurance questions.

Should I buy marine insurance?
The decision is yours. Marine insurance transfers eligible financial risk to an insurer rather than leaving you responsible for the entire loss.
What value should I insure for?
Household goods should be valued according to their replacement value in Israel. Use the linked guide for help estimating that amount.
What is the difference between All Risk and Total Loss?
All Risk can cover eligible individual loss or damage and requires professional packing. Total Loss is narrower catastrophic-event coverage and may be available for self-packed shipments.

Self-packed shipments may qualify for Total Loss insurance. All Risk coverage requires professional packing by Aliyah Lift Shipping or an approved agent.
Are antiques, artwork and instruments covered?
High-value items may require a qualified appraisal and may be subject to specific limits, documentation requirements and policy terms.
Is there a deductible?
The current All Risk option has a $250 deductible. Total Loss has no deductible, subject to the final policy terms.
