Many clients ask whether they can use plastic storage bins, such as Rubbermaid® tubs or similar brands, for their shipment to Israel. While these containers are popular for household storage, they are generally not ideal for international shipping.
The good news is that most of our shipments include full-service packing, and that service includes the moving cartons, packing materials, and supplies needed to prepare your shipment properly. In most cases, there is no need to purchase plastic bins.
Over the years, we have found that plastic bins can crack, split, or break when stacked under the weight of other items during transportation. While they may seem sturdy, their structural performance in a shipping container is often less reliable than professional moving cartons. Properly packed moving boxes stack well, distribute weight evenly, and have a proven track record of protecting household goods during transit.
For these reasons, we generally recommend using standard moving cartons rather than plastic storage bins whenever possible.
